ABOUT KRISTEN

I’m a writer and educator living in Los Angeles. After escaping and recovering from domestic violence, sexual abuse, substance abuse issues, and life on the streets, I went on to earn my BA in English from the University of California at Irvine and my MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of California at Riverside. I’m currently pursuing my PhD in English at the Claremont Colleges, where I also specialize in teaching international students.

I’ve recently completed a memoir, Lost Vegas, about my wild ride from high school dropout to dishwasher to dancer to doctor, which I’m currently seeking representation for. I’m also in the process of launching a non-for-profit, Home For Education, which aims to help homeless, almost homeless, and formerly homeless women start and complete their educational journey.

In my leisure time, I enjoy watching documentaries, the nonfiction section at the bookstore, museum-hopping, anything related to fitness, a “Golden Girls” marathon, and hanging out with my big orange tabby, Archie.
